World Book Day
Today is World Book Day of the United Kingdom and Ireland, which sounds like a bit of a contradiction. How can you have a “world” day, and then tie it into a single geographic region?
Here’s what I say: bugger what “they” say: World Book Day it is. March 6th sounds as good a day as any. Despite the fact that I’m nowhere near Ireland or the UK, here’s what I’m going to do to celebrate: I’m going to pick something that looks wonderful off my towering TBR pile, and I’m going to read it, right now.
How are you going to celebrate?

Merci mille fois- thanks a million.
I love the idea of celebrating world book day by simply picking up a book. Everyhitng can get so complicated. Let's celebrate by reading, shall we?
The reason is because WBD is aimed at getting children to read, and in the UK most years, children are on school vacation on 23 April, when the rest of the world celebrates WBD. Hence they'd miss out on their £1 vouchers (delivered via schools) and all the fun which they've had all this week, dressing up as book characters, in pyjamas, as superheroes, etc...(don't ask me what the last two have to do with books, but they enjoyed it!)
