Transported by Rohinton Mistry
Today in the Guardian’s Summer Readings series, Hannah Booth talks about reading Rohinton Mistry’s stellar A Fine Balance while in India.
Back in 2003, I completely botched an interview with this fine writer. You can see the result of that here.A great novel can transport you from one country to another. But reading one in its home country does something greater still. Being in India intensified my joy at this vast, heartbreaking and compassionate book, and it in turn deepened my experience of India.
